New Ministry Of Sound Compilation

MOS are to release a new dubstep compilation on the 27th of the this this month called "adventures in dudstep... and beyond" and features an array of artists that show the more experimental and evolving side of the scene. The compilation is idea from Joe Muggs who has wrote articles for FACT, the Wire, Mixmag and more and is someone that has a close eye of the ever evolving sound.

In his own words, “we’re past the question of whether dubstep could break the mainstream … but does this mean the sound and scene have sold out their underground credentials?”

Evidently not, as he continues, “round ever corner, in every backstreet club and every suburban estate there are fresh innovations taking place keeping the music just as fresh and eye-opening as it ever was. Mixing and matching elements with its cousins Garage, Grime, House and Electronica, dubstep keeps throwing up new sounds.”

Artists that feature on this compilation include Martyn, flying lotus, Ikonika, egyptrixx and fused forces to mention just a few and show case some of the movements underground sounds and a few emerging artists.

I think this makes a change from the usual mainstream compilations MOS put together and are tapping into the scenes ever changing underground scene.

Icicle

A chilled dub mix coming from Icicle courtesy of the boys over at Sonic Router

"With a healthy heritage and background in drum & bass, Icicle's music at the slower dubstep tempo retains alot of the hallmarks he's become reliable for: interesting atmospherics, tough drums and mammoth bass lines that work soundsystems properly and with vigour. After releasing his debut brooding dubstep 12" on Friction's Shogun Audio imprint we got wind of his inclusion on Tempa's forthcoming Dubstep Allstars 6 EP - where he appears alongside luminaries like SBTRKT and FaltyDL alongside people like Benga and Skream - and after a quick investigation it was obvious that his newer productions showed more than a hell of a lot of promise, sitting effortlessly in the midst of such established company."

Tracklisting
1. Cyrus – The Calling
2. Icicle – Xylophobia
3. Icicle & Youngsta – Momentum
4. Icicle – Ferrofunk
5. Joker D – You!
6. Cyrus – Manhattan Blues

Benji B takes over from Mary Ann

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Benji B is moving to BBC Radio 1 to host the Thursday 2 a.m.-4 a.m. slot, replacing Mary Anne Hobbs, who's been with the Beeb for 14 years. In July, Hobbs, whose last show airs next week on September 8, announced that she'd be leaving for a teaching position in Sheffield.
"I’ve loved every minute of my eight years at 1Xtra and am delighted to be given this incredible opportunity," says Benji B. "I can’t wait to bring the essence of my Sunday night show and my loyal audience to my new Radio 1 programme."
Benji B's final Radio 1Xtra show will air on October 10, and he makes his Radio 1 debut on October 14.

I Just wonder what's going to happen to Benji's deviation night down at gramaphone that normally takes place on a Wednesday night.
